In the north-east of Nigeria, 91 Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists and their families are said to have surrendered to Nigerian Army Operation Hadin Kai forces.

Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, made the discovery in an Abuja statement on Friday.

According to Nwachukwu, the 202 Battalion captured eight militants and their families, including ten adult ladies and 22 children, who surrendered in Ruwaza village in Borno’s Bama Local Government Area.

Twenty terrorists and their families surrendered to forces at Nbewa village, also in the Bama LGA, and were detained by troops from the Forward Operational Base operating along the BoCobs-Bama route, according to the director.

He stated the militants’ surrendered families included 15 adult females and 26 children, adding that the children among the surrendering suspects had received polio vaccinations.

“The suspects all surrendered to the troops, during clearance operations in the areas on July 29, following ongoing intense clearance operations by troops in the general areas.

“The children among the surrendering suspects have been vaccinated with polio vaccines, while the adult and female suspects, who have been documented and screened are currently undergoing preliminary investigations,” he said.

During a fighting patrol along the Molai-Damboa route, 73 Battalion forces, working with a joint team of Civilian Joint Task Force and Hunters, intercepted a terrorists’ logistic supply, according to Onyema.

While preparing plans to transfer logistics to militants in the forest, the suspect was apprehended.

A vehicle, four jerry cans of 30 litres of PMS, one four-litre gallon of engine oil, one motorcycle pump, and one torch were among the goods confiscated from the suspect, according to him.

One mosquito net, two praying mats, two blankets, four spanners, ten 1.5v battery packets, three dozens of diamond rubber solution, five candy packets, five spice packets, and measures of other foodstuff are among the other items.
