D’Tigers Crushed Out Of Olympics; Lose To Italy 71-80
Nigeria’s D’Tigers lose 71-80 against Italy in their third Group B game at the Tokyo Olympics men’s basketball event.
It was their third defeat, and they were relegated to the bottom of their group.
Tobiloba Amusan, meanwhile, advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s 100-meter hurdles event at the 2020 Olympic Games after winning heat 3.
Amusan, who started from lane 4 in the first round, finished in 12.72 seconds, ahead of Jamaican Yanique Thompson, who finished in 12.74 seconds.
Pia Skrzyszowska of Poland finished third and qualified for the semi-finals on Sunday with a personal best time of 12.75.
According to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), the 24-year-old African champion reached the semi-finals of the race at the 2016 Rio Olympics, clocking 12.91.
Amusan will also compete in the women’s 4x100m relay for Nigeria.
