Akpabio plans to bury fetish items in Akwa Ibom – Group alleges
An Akwa Ibom group has alleged that Former Senate minority leader and APC chieftain, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio and his co travellers including his brother, Mr. Ibanga Akpabio, Hon. Nse Ntuen, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekon, and Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Akpan are planning to bury fetish items ‘mbiam’ in Ikot Ekpene and Uyo Plazas, and other significant locations, starting tonight.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the group said this will not be the first time the former governor has performed these rituals.
The statement reads; “Since Godswill Akpabio took over power in 2007, he initiated the periodical burying of strange items at strategic locations around the state capital. Some of the places were Government House complex, all major junctions in Uyo metropolis, all prominent roundabouts including Ibom Plaza, Itam Peace Column, Water Fountain along Nwaniba Road, the Globe on Wellington Bassey Way and others.
It was gathered that Akpabio’s intension was to keep Ibibios disunited, attacking each other and docile towards him throughout his tenure in office.
Findings revealed that these events were not secret during Akpabio’s era as local newspapers and some prominent men of God often exposed them. These perhaps prompted some powerful men of God in the state to organize church programmes where they decisively exorcise the demons invoked into those places.
The leaked intelligence further reveals that Akpabio and his men, having realized that after failing woefully in the 2019 election couple with their current woes at the tribunal, they face political oblivion if they do not act fast.
“Akpabio is currently poaching some Ibibio politicians and believes when he reactivates the ‘juju’ crises will ensue among Ibibio people which will cause many to run to him”, our source stated.
