Adamawa APC chairman debunks impeachment reports

The Adamawa State Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Ibrahim Bilal, has debunked reports of his purported removal from office, describing those behind the said removal as “agents of confusion”.

The Adamawa APC executive had on Monday “removed” Ibrahim Bilal as the state chairman over an alleged violation of the party’s constitution.

Bilal’s removal, orchestrated by a nondescript group that declared the party’s deputy Chairman, Ismaila Tadawus, as the new state chapter chairman, plunged the party into crisis on Monday.

As gathered, Bilal’s removal followed the passing of a no-confidence vote by 24 out of the 36 members of the state working committee.

The party’s state publicity Secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, said the committee announced Bilal’s removal in a arranged press conference, which was held at the party secretariat on Monday morning.

The PUNCH earlier reported that the plot to remove Bilal was the fallout of the party’s recent governorship primaries in the state.

The pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who lost the Adamawa APC governorship ticket to Senator Aishatu Binani, had approached the court to challenge the latter’s victory.

Bilal who said he still remains the party chairman, however, noted that only the national working committee of the party, was empowered by the party’s guidelines to remove him from office.

According to Bilal, his purported removal will be resisted because it was not done in accordance with due process.

He said, “I want to urge every party member to remain calm as I still remain the chairman of the APC in Adamawa, and by Allah’s grace I will serve out the remainder of my tenure, and leading our party to victory, come next year’s general election.

“But it requires restating that the actions of a few exco officials, who acting out of strife, disrupted the serenity so long enjoyed by the party, to serve us a circus, of my purported sack will meet the resolve of a determined followership, to never allow evil to prevail.”

On his part, asked APC members in the state to disregard the report as Bilal remains the party chairman in the state.

Abbo said, “Those who claim you have authority from the Villa should know that not all is eat from the Villa.

“And those who claim to be doing it for Nuhu ( Mallam Nuhu Ribadu) should not pitch Nuhu against the people. I have known Nuhu to be a decent man having worked with him for three years.

“We won’t allow you to disgrace Bilal they way you disgraced Bindow. Disregard the joke. Bilal is still the Chairman.”
