Abducted Bethel Baptist students doing well – Bandits confirm

Following the abduction of kids from Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna on Monday, July 5, 2021, the abductors have called to assure the school administration that all of the pupils are well.

“Today, by the grace of God, we received a call from the bandits and they informed us that our children are well and doing okay,” Rev. Yahaya Adamu Jangado, President of the Kaduna Baptist Conference and proprietor of Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna, said in a statement. Indeed, we got the opportunity to speak with a number of them.”

He continued,

“They (students) counted themselves in the jungle and told us they were 121, and when we put that figure together with what we found, we discovered that it is precisely the same as the number of students we have in the hostel.”

According to Rev. Yahaya Jangado, the total number of kids recovered in the school on Monday was 28, and none of them were abducted.

He praised the security personnel for responding quickly to the school after getting a distress call that robbers had stormed it, but he lamented that two of the troops were killed in the exchange of fire between the soldiers and the bandits.

He expressed gratitude to the parents for their patience, understanding, and tranquility, and asked for their support during this difficult time, promising them that the administration will do all necessary to bring their children back.
