2023: Older People Should Step Down — Obasanjo

As the 2023 elections approach, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has asked the older generation to stand down in order to make way for the younger.

Obasanjo stated that the older age should provide the necessary information and expertise to the younger generation in order to transform Nigeria.

The former President addressed at the Murtala Muhammed Foundation’s annual lecture for 2022 yesterday.

He chastised aging politicians who are still running for President in 2023.

According to Obasanjo: “We need to have an intergenerational collaboration. Fayemi said he was in primary school when Murtala and Obasanjo were there.

“So, if people of the Murtala/Obasanjo era are competing with you as Governor, then, something is wrong.

“The Murtala/Obasanjo group should be stepping aside.

“Whatever experience and knowledge we have, we should be able to give it to you and you should be able to give it to those coming after you.”
