We Will Not Rest Until Kidnapped Kebbi Students Are Rescued — Gov Atiku Bagudu Says

On Friday night, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State promised his assistance for security forces in the fight against banditry in the state.

During a sympathy visit to Federal Government College (FGC) Birnin Yauri, Bagudu made the vow in front of parents, staff, and students.

The Governor promised that his administration will leave no stone unturned until all of the abducted people were freed, emphasizing the importance of protecting the safety of people and property.

“As a government, we shall not rest until all students and teachers abducted by bandits from the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, are rescued, while additional security would be provided to all institutions of learning”, he assured.

Bagudu expressed his condolences to the college’s staff and students on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, and praised the state’s security services for their rapid response, which resulted in the rescue of some of the abducted students and professors.

The Governor also praised parents and guardians for maintaining composed and continuing to pray to God for help.

On Thursday, armed men suspected of being bandits took the pupils and teachers, according to NEWS DIRECT.

The robbers allegedly killed a police officer before abducting the four staff members and an unknown number of students to an unknown location.

During a gunfight between soldiers and the abductors, one of the students abducted from the school was killed.

Meanwhile, five of the Federal Government College students and two teachers in Birnin-Yauri, Kebbi State, have been rescued.

The Nigerian Army announced their recovery on Friday.

The army also acknowledged that during the ensuing gunfight, a tired student passed away.
