We might not be okay with the decision but as good party people we have to abide by it – Suswam

Former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam has expressed his views on the decision of the National Working Committee to affirm Omar Damagun as the Acting Chairman of the PDP. Following discussions during the Caucus and NEC meeting, it was agreed to maintain Omar Damagun in his role of Acting National Chairman.

Senator Suswam acknowledged the dissatisfaction among some members regarding this decision but emphasized the North Central’s commitment to prioritizing the party’s interests over personal agendas. He clarified that Omar Damagun would serve temporarily as the National Chairman until August, when another NEC meeting will convene to nominate a candidate from the North Central for the Party’s Chairmanship.

In an interview with Arise News Television today, he said: “I am not shocked because the party is made up of stakeholders and organs of the parties that make decisions. The National Caucus of the party met last night and from what I have heard in order not to create further tension within the party the Acting Chairman should be given additional months to act in that capacity. The Congress will then be conducted and after that by August when the next NEC meeting is to be held then the issue of a substantive National Chairman will be addressed. The North Central as much as we didn’t feel okay with that we are good party people and we felt that if that’s the decision of the party then we will abide by it”.
