Unknown Gunmen: Police Confirm Attack On Enugu Joint Security Checkpoint

The attack on a combined security checkpoint at Amodu in the state’s Nkanu West Local Government Area has been confirmed by the Enugu State Police Command.

According to NEWS DIRECT, the attack, which took place early on Tuesday, claimed two lives.

In a brief statement made available to NEWS DIRECT, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, verified the event.

However, he said nothing about how many people had died.

The statement reads, “There was an attack on a Joint Operation Team checkpoint at Amodu in Nkanu West LGA, in the morning hours of today, 27/09/2022.

“However, I await full briefing on the incident due to ongoing intense manhunt of the masked assailants, most of whom escaped the scene of the incident with fatal gunshot injuries, after the gun duel with the Team.

“Further development will be communicated, please.”
