Ukrainian Army Shoots Down Russian Fighter Planes

As Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began its sixth day, the Ukrainian army said that it had shot down multiple Russian fighter planes.

According to the Ukrayinska Pravda newspaper and the Ukrainian air force, five Russian fighter jets and a helicopter were shot down during aerial raids on Monday.

The planes were purportedly shot down during aerial raids on the cities of Vasylkiv and Brovary in the vicinity of Kiev, as well as a cruise missile and a helicopter.

Ukrainian jets are said to have launched missiles and bombs at Russian tanks and personnel near Kiev and Zhytomyr.

Bombs were reportedly dropped in Chernihiv, Ukraine’s northern province, and Berdyansk, Ukraine’s southern city, both of which are currently under Russian control.

Meanwhile, according to Ukrainian news source UNIAN, satellite photography has revealed a 64-kilometer-long convoy of Russian military vehicles heading towards Kiev, Ukraine’s capital.

According to the United Nations, more than 100 civilians have perished as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The government of Ukraine estimates that more than 150 people have died as a result of the conflict.
