Top Politician Dares Tinubu, Tells Fubara To Tear His Peace Deal Into Pieces

A new twist has emerged following the signing of a peace deal by the warring factions in Rivers State led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

In reaction to that development, a top politician and former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, criticized President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in the Rivers State dispute, asserting that Tinubu did not mediate peace but exploited his position to benefit the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lamido accused the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) of being docile and irresponsibly allowing its political rival, Tinubu, to intervene in the internal conflict between Rivers State Governor, Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike.

Lamido questioned the absence and effectiveness of the PDP’s National Working Committee in addressing the internal crisis, suggesting that President Tinubu had assumed a prominent role within the PDP. He expressed disbelief at the PDP’s passivity and accused the party of allowing its fortunes to be influenced by the APC.

In his words, Lamido stated, “Pray, do we still have the National Working Committee of the PDP? Or better still, do we have a party called PDP? If we have one of the two, how come their total absence in the saga playing out in the PDP family in Rivers? Is the docility of the leadership of the PDP so comatose to the extent that President Tinubu of APC, our sworn rival and opponent, is now the grand patriarch of PDP?”

He went further to say, “It is inconceivable that a political party will simply sit back and allow its fortunes taken over by a rapacious scavenger, the APC. What President Tinubu did in the so-called peace meeting is not brokering peace in Rivers State, but using his office to enhance the fortunes of his political party.”

Lamido criticized Tinubu’s actions, suggesting that the peace accord in Rivers State had planted seeds of future conflicts and potential consequences for the entire country. He referred to comments from Asari Mujaheed Dokubo and Chief Edwin Clark, who hinted at the looming risks associated with the peace accord.

Lamido called on the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) to challenge the legality of the peace accord through the justice system and other legal means. He expressed disappointment in the PDP’s leadership and suggested that if they could not protect their interests, they should step down to allow competent leaders to take charge.

In addressing Rivers State Governor Fubara, Lamido said, ” “To Governor Fubara of Rivers State, the document you signed was under an environment not friendly to real conflict resolution, and it was presided over by the force of fear, intimidation and blackmail. Therefore, shred the document and toss it into trash can.”
