Today We Are Scattering You – Fubara’s Men Move Against Wike After Supreme Court Judgment (VIDEO)
Following the Supreme Court’s declaration of Sim Fubara as the duly elected Governor of Rivers State, some youths in Opobo, the hometown of Governor Fubara, have expressed their displeasure with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The Supreme Court upheld Fubara’s victory after dismissing the challenge presented by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Patrick Tonye-Cole. The appeal argued that Fubara, the elected Governor, did not resign as the accountant general of Rivers State before the election.
In the lead judgment delivered by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, the Supreme Court panel affirmed Fubara’s election and declared the appeal by Tonye-Cole as incompetent and lacking in merit. Justice Saulawa stated that the appellant failed to prove allegations of over-voting, non-compliance, and non-qualification of Fubara to contest the election.
A video circulating online captured residents of Opobo destroying a billboard of the former Governor, Nyesom Wike, and denouncing him as evil.
The residents voiced their determination never to allow any picture of Wike’s billboard in the town. The discontent among the youths appears to stem from the aftermath of the Supreme Court judgment and its implications for the political landscape in Rivers State.
