Terror-linked Pantami Bags Another Award For Continuing Ahmadu Bello’s Agenda Across Nigeria
Nigeria’s minister of communications and digital economy, Isa Pantami, has received yet another award for his work in guiding the country’s communication industry “in keeping with the legacy of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello (Sardauna of Sokoto).”
Sardauna Of Our Time (SOOT) received the newest prize, which was revealed on the ministry of communications and digital economy’s Facebook page.
It comes after a slew of other honors have been conferred on Mr Pantami since his former ties to terrorist organizations including al-Qaeda and the Taliban were exposed.
Mr Pantami had professed his support for terrorist organizations and even criticized the then-federal government for killing his “Muslim brothers,” Boko Haram, in a series of publications published by Peoples Gazette.
Mr. Pantami was named the most outstanding minister of the year in 2021 by the tabloid Elite Exclusive Magazine in June of that year.
The latest honor, SOOT, is “in recognition of the minister’s outstanding contribution to society in the Digital Economy Sector of Nigeria in line with the legacy of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello (Sardauna of Sokoto),” according to the ministry of communications and digital economy.
Mr. Bello, the former Northern Nigerian premier and a conservative politician, campaigned hard for Northern Nigeria’s modernisation and the union of the region’s numerous tribes.
He also pushed for the Northernisation Policy, which aimed to deploy northerners in federal jobs like as the public service, military, and paramilitary.
The revered Fulani leader was alleged in an article to have said “The new nation called Nigeria should be an Estate of our great grandfather Uthman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power.
“We use the minorities in the North as willing tools and the South as a conquered territory and never allow them to rule over us and never allow them to have control over their future.”
