BREAKING: Ben Murray-Bruce’s Mum Dies At 95
Margaret Murray-Bruce, the Murray-Bruce family’s matriarch, has passed away.
Margaret Murray-Bruce, Senator Ben Murray-mother, Bruce’s died at 4:40 a.m. on Tuesday.
In posts to his Facebook and Twitter accounts, the senator announced her victory.
He said: “Life. Indeed, like sand in the wind, today it’s here, tomorrow it’s gone. My mum is gone. She died at 4:40am this morning. My gem of inestimable value, my support system, my best friend, my everything—she’s gone.
“My consolation is that in her lifetime, I gave her not just everything that money could buy, but most importantly, I gave her my presence, my time, my everything. On uncountable occasions, I will go to her house to hug her and play with her for no reason but love, the kind that only sons share with their mums. I love you, mum, and I miss you. This one hurts so bad. Forever yours.”
Margaret, the third of her parents’ three children, was born to an Englishman, James Lee of the United Kingdom, and Bessy Lee of Bayelsa State.
On a ship in the Atlantic Ocean, she was born.
Her father was a Nigerian Marine engineer who helped to man the Nigerian waterways back then, while her mother was a full-time housewife.
Margaret married her husband, William Murray-Bruce, as a bride-child at the age of 16 and had her first child at the age of 18.
It was typical practice at the time, and she stated in an interview that she felt fortunate to have been connected with the right man.
