9-month-old Baby Abandoned In A Bush Rescued By Police

On Saturday, police in Abakaliki announced that they had rescued a nine-month-old girl who had been abandoned at Ebonyi Riverside in the Ezzillo Community of the Ishielu Local Government Area.

This is according to a statement published by DSP Loveth Odah, the state’s police spokesperson.

The infant was spotted by a farmer on Friday, according to Ms Odah, and the farmer immediately informed the police.

“The farmer alerted police operatives at Ishielu Division before she was rescued and handed over to the gender unit of the state’s Police Command,’’ she said.

“Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi, Aliyu Garba, directed that the baby be accorded proper medical attention and taken to a government facility for custody and proper care,’’ she added.

Ms Odah also stated that “Mr Garba assured the public that the police would continue to collaborate with all the relevant agencies and non-governmental bodies to fight against inhuman acts and other social vices.
