On Friday morning, a tanker carrying premium motor spirit burst at the Upper Iweka junction in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Many shops and buildings in the area are said to have been burned as a result of the fire caused by the tanker that had broken down in front of the Relief Market on the bustling Onitsha-Owerri Road.
The fire, which began at 8.30 a.m., produced a protracted traffic jam in and out of Onitsha.
Firefighters from both Anambra and Delta states have arrived on the scene and are battling the fire due to a lack of water.
