‘Yes, I Killed My Husband,’ Teenager Tells Yola Court

A 19-year-old girl who was suspected of stabbing her husband to death has confessed.

Rumasau Muhammed, a juvenile, admits to stabbing her husband, Mohammed Adamu, 35, with a knife till he died.

The teenager pled guilty to culpable homicide before a Yola Chief Magistrate Court 1.

Rumasau, who is from Wuro Yanka in Yola’s Shelleng Local Government Area, was previously arrested for killing her husband after he ignored her numerous divorce petitions.

According to accounts of the couple’s brief marriage, she was forced into it against her choice and never wanted to be in it even for a day.

The marriage apparently lasted only three weeks before she decided to end it on her own.

The marriage was contracted on August 6, 2021, and three weeks later she executed the gory way out, after which she was arrested and accused in court.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) on the case, after the defendant inflicted the knife wounds on her spouse on a fateful day, the husband collapsed, passed out, and was later pronounced dead at the hospital to which he was transferred.

When the defendant was read the contents of the FI report in court, she admitted to perpetrating the crime.

The prosecutor then requested that the case be adjourned so that the police may send the case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal consultation.

As a result, Chief Magistrate Aliyu Bawuro ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody and that the case be adjourned until October 13, 2021.
