Supreme Court: Tinubu, Shettima Should Resign For Akpabio To Do The Needful – Datti Reveals

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the presidential running mate of the Labour Party (LP), has called for the resignation of President Bola Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima after the Supreme Court Judgment.

Baba-Ahmed insisted that Senate President Godswill Akpabio should conduct a new presidential election following the resignations of Tinubu and Shettima. According to him, if the two politicians resign, Akpabio would be in a position to oversee the election process where new President and Vice would be elected.

During an interview on Arise Television, Baba-Ahmed emphasized that Tinubu and Shettima had been fraudulently inaugurated after the 2023 presidential election. As a result, the LP refuses to collaborate with what they consider an illegitimate government.

He stated, “Can Tinubu and Shettima just resign and let the Senate President conduct another election? They were fraudulently sworn in, and we will not work with an illegitimate government. If it is not constitutional, we are not touching it.”

His comments followed a press conference by LP’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in which he criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Supreme Court for their handling of election matters, accusing them of incompetence.
