Residents Run For Their Lives As Over 100 Heavily Armed Bandits Attack Military Camp, Burn Vehicles

A heavily armed gang of bandits launched an attack on a military camp in Nahuta village, Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The assailants, numbering many, raided the camp around 11:30 pm on Sunday, wielding AK-47 rifles and engaging the stationed military personnel. Despite successfully repelling the attackers, the bandits managed to set military vehicles ablaze and cause damage to other property.

In a coordinated assault, some of the bandits proceeded to invade Nahuta town, looting shops and homes while making away with valuables and domestic animals worth millions of naira. The incident heightened tension in the area, prompting residents to flee communities due to fear of further attacks.

A military source revealed that over 100 terrorists participated in the assault, burning two military vehicles. The attackers, organized into three groups, attempted to overpower the military, leading to a strategic retreat to prevent casualties.

In the aftermath of the attack, Nahuta residents were seen leaving the community, seeking refuge in nearby areas such as Batsari town and Wagini village, perceived as relatively safe.

As of the report, there has been no official comment from the Katsina State police spokesman or the spokesman of the 17 Brigade Nigeria Army in Katsina.
