President Tinubu Issues First Directive To Gov Aiyedatiwa

President Bola Tinubu has issued his first directive to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiw of Ondo State days after he took over power.

Tinubu gave the directive during a meeting he held with the newly sworn-in Ondo state Governor at his Lagos residence on Thursday. The President specifically directed the Governor to take charge of the state. He further told him to mobilize the people for the progress of the state.

Aiyedatiwa, who assumed the governorship following the demise of his predecessor, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, shared that during the meeting, President Tinubu expressed condolences and offered advice for effective leadership.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, speaking to journalists after the meeting, conveyed the mixed feelings of the encounter. He mentioned President Tinubu’s condolences and encouragement, stating, “It was a paradox, a mixed feeling, he commiserated with me… and also wished me well that there can never be a vacuum, one era ends, another one begins.” He emphasized the unique aspect of the transition within the same administration due to the governor’s demise.

Aiyedatiwa outlined the purpose of his visit, stating, “I’m here to see Mr. President to further brief him on the events that happened in our state; the loss of our governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, and to also let him know that I have just been sworn in.”

He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his support during the challenging period in Ondo State over the past six months. The governor highlighted Tinubu’s role as a father-figure to the state and acknowledged the President’s guidance and support. Aiyedatiwa concluded, “I’m here to just thank him for being a father-figure to the state, all his advice, and the development. Right now and what we are looking forward to do in the days ahead.”
