President Buhari Suspends Hadiza Usman As NPA MD

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has approved the suspension of the Managing Director, Nigeria Ports Authority, Hadiza Usman, NEWS DIRECT reports.

Multiple Presidency sources, who did not want their names mentioned, confirmed the development to our correspondent on Thursday evening.

The sources however did not disclose Usman’s offence.

“I can confirm to you that she has actually been suspended,” one of the sources said.

When asked to disclose Usman’s offence, the source simply said, “You asked if the woman was suspended and I have confirmed that.”

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, had in a January 21 statement announced Usman’s re-appointment for a second term of five years.

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the re-appointment of Hadiza Bala Usman as Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, for an additional five-year tenure.

“Also approved is the reconstitution of the Non-Executive Board of the NPA, with Mr Emmanuel Olajide Adesoye (from South-west zone) as Chairman.

“Other members of the Board are Prince Ekenyem Nwafor-Orizu (South-east zone), Akinwunmi Ricketts (South-south zone), Ghazali Mohammed Mijinyawa (North-East zone), Mustapha Amin Dutse (North-West zone), and Abdulwahab Adesina (North-Central zone).”
