Popular Traditional Ruler suspended for raping 14 year-old-girl

A traditional ruler in Osun state has been suspended for allegedly participating in the gang-rape of a 14-year-old girl.

David Ogungbemi, the Aketewi of Iketewi, was suspended by the Ijesa North traditional Council in Obokun for the dastard act. NEWS DIRECT learned that Ogungbemi alongside his son, Idowu Ogungbemi and one Sarafa Olayiwola will remain in prison custody over the act.

A statement jointly signed by the president of the council, Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, Oba Moses Agunsoye and the Secretary, Olomu of Ijaregbe, Oba Edward Adetimo on Monday noted that the suspension of Ogungbemi took effect from Sunday.

Ogungbemi is to stay away from the Ijesa North Traditional Council and Obokun Chieftaincy Committee and all activities associated with both bodies, pending the decision of the court.
