Police Reject N1 Million Bribe To Free Kidnap Suspect In Kano

The sum of One Million Naira (N1,000,000:00) offered to SP Aliyu Mohammed, the police officer in charge of the anti-kidnapping squad at the state criminal investigation department of Kano State Command, as a bribe to secure the release of 27-year-old kidnapping suspect Yusuf Ibrahim of Danjibga village in Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State, has been rejected.

SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police public relations officer, provided a statement to newsmen confirming this.

62-year-old Bamuwa Umaru of Shika town, Sabon Gari LGA, Kaduna State, contacted the officer on Tuesday and gave him one million naira (N1,000,000:00) as a bribe to secure the release of accused kidnapper Yusuf Ibrahim, who was 27 at the time, according to Kiyawa.

The suspect admitted to the crime and was responsible for other kidnappings that occurred in the villages of Sheme, Yankara, Faskari, and Kucheri in the states of Katsina and Zamfara.

He claimed that roughly ten (10) of their victims had been murdered by the syndicate.

When the investigations are finished, the suspects will be charged in court.
