Nigerian University Compels Students To Wear Uniforms

Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Amassoma, a Bayelsa state-owned university, has ordered its students to purchase and begin wearing uniforms while on campus.

Prof. Samuel G. Edoumiekumo, vice-chancellor of Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Bayelsa State, issued the directive in a memo on Monday.
Students would pay between N20,000 and N30,000 for the uniforms, according to the memo viewed by reports.

Meanwhile, students have begun to respond to the situation, with many protesting the new rule.

In light of the current economic situation, the students have condemned the command as predatory.
