Peter Obi Shuns Atiku, Reveals How He Handled His Certificate Issue Amid Tinubu’s Forgery Saga

Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has declined Atiku Abubakar’s invitation to join forces in their battle against President Bola Tinubu. Atiku, the former vice president, made this appeal during an International Press Conference in Abuja, urging Obi and Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) to unite in their pursuit of justice.

The backdrop for this request is the controversy surrounding President Tinubu’s educational credentials, specifically a certificate he allegedly obtained from the Chicago State University (CSU). Atiku, who accused Tinubu of forging the certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stated his intention to use CSU’s academic records as part of his legal action against the president in the Supreme Court.

In response, Obi, through a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, cited his ongoing efforts to reclaim his allegedly stolen mandate at the Supreme Court. The statement emphasized Obi’s commitment to a just nation where integrity and honor are paramount. It highlighted Obi’s consistent call for leaders to be role models and live lives worthy of emulation. The Labour Party welcomed any other interested parties willing to join their pursuit of a just and honorable nation.

Revealing how Obi has challenged others regarding being transparent about their certificates and credentials, the statement noted: “Obi has pontificated severally on the need for leaders to be good role models and to live a life worthy of emulation. This he has done by publicly putting his credentials in the open for verification. Nigeria will get better when men of integrity and honour drive the affairs of the nation.
