Ogun: Sango-Ota Residents Protest Bad Roads, Accuse Fashola, Buhari Of Neglect

Residents of Sango-Ota in Ogun’s Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area organized a protest on Monday, protesting the area’s poor road conditions.

The DAILY POST recalls that in October 2020, a large number of local youngsters marched out in protest of the terrible roads, using the hashtag #Fixotaroads to draw attention to the problem.

Residents of Sango, Ota, Ijoko, Oju-Ore, Joju, and other communities say the roads had continued to degrade despite the government’s indifference.

Governor Dapo Abiodun recently accused the Federal Government for denying him and Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu access to the roads.

On Thursday, the State Government said a team of engineers from the Federal Ministry of Works were on the road for assessment, expressing confidence that renovations would commence soon.

However, it appears residents of Ado-Odo/Ota have run out of patience as they marched to the street on Monday to call out those in positions of authority.

Armed with placards with inscriptions reading; “Fashola, stop looking away”, “Shey na road be this?”, “Don’t allow Gov Abiodun to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs”, “Fix Ota roads” and others, the protesters expressed anger, saying the town has been neglected.

They accused President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Dapo Abiodun, Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola, Senator Tolu Odebiyi, and Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele of negligence, claiming that their actions caused the roads to be destroyed.

Residents urged the state’s Deputy Governor, Naimot Salako-Oyedele, and other senior politicians from the axis not to allow Gov. Abiodun to disregard the hardship of the region that provides the most money for the state.

Residents of Sango Ota also pleaded with Abiodun not to fold his hands until everything in Ota is destroyed, lamenting the fact that investors have already fled.
