Nigerians React As Super Eagles Crash Out Of AFCON After Buhari’s Call

On Sunday, the Nigerian Super Eagles were eliminated from the 2018 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after losing 1-0 to a COVID-19-ravaged Tunisian team.

This comes after President Muhammadu Buhari summoned the Super Eagles and charged them with defeating their adversary.

The Super Eagles were the only team in Group D to qualify with a maximum of nine points from the group stage, defeating all of the other teams. The Eagles, on the other hand, were unable to advance past the round of 16.

However Nigerians took to social media to pour out their reactions, blaming President Buhari for Super Eagles’ loss.

See some reactions below:

@_AsiwajuLerry wrote, “Super Eagles used to win or score in the first half until they received a call from President Buhari.”

@Oli_Ekun said, “Everything was going so well until Buhari addressed this team. Wetin be all this.”

@Renoomokri tweeted, “Iwobi red card, Iheanacho yellow card. All the time they have been playing this never happened. Why is it that it is the day they spoke to Buhari that these series of unwelcome events rained on us! Energies are very contagious. Avoid negative people! #AFCON2021  #TableShaker”

@HenryShield wrote, “May Buhari never call you.”
