Nigerian Breweries MD, Jordi Borrut Bel Resigns

The Managing Director/CEO of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr Jordi Borrut Bel, has presented his resignation letter to the board of the company.

Mr Borrut Bel notified the board that he would be leaving the brewing company effective July 30, 2021 to take up a new position within the Heineken Group.

The board, having accepted his resignation, choose Mr Hans Essaadi as thee new head of the company effective July 31, 2021.

The outgoing MD/CEO who joined Nigerian Breweries on January 22, 2018, has been able to successfully lead the firm through a chaotic period and a difficult operating atmosphere.

With a keen focus on people development, product innovation, expansion of the Route-to-Market, cost leadership, customer and consumer focus, stakeholder engagement and ensuring return on investment for investors, Borrut Bel has firmly repositioned Nigerian Breweries on the recovery path for sustainable growth.

In a statement signed by Mr Uaboi Agbebaku, the company secretary, the board believes that the incoming Nigerian Breweries MD/CEO, Essaadi, will use his experience and knowledge to continue the turnaround work started by Borrut Bel.

Essaadi is currently the Managing Director of Al-Haram Beverages, the Heineken Operating Company in Egypt.

He joined the Heineken Group as a Sales Representative in 1991 and thereafter took up increasingly senior roles within the group in sales, export and marketing.

He began his international career with Heineken Puerto Rico as the Country Manager and thereafter became the General Manager, Brau Union International, the Heineken OpCo in Austria.
