Nigeria Receives Final Batch Of Super Tucano Fighters From US

All 12 Super Tucano armed turboprops requested from the United States have finally arrived in Nigeria.

On Monday, Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information, confirmed the arrival.

Paveway II guided bombs, laser-directed rockets, 12.7 mm ammunition, unguided bombs, and infrared sensors are among the assets.

They are being utilized in the North-East against Boko Haram and Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP), according to Mohammed.

“We’ve got all 12 Super Tucano fighter jets.” “All 12 have arrived and have been dispatched to the north-east,” the official said to TV Continental.

The Tucano aircraft, according to the minister, is a “game changer.”

He mentioned that recent accomplishments were due to the purchase of new platforms and other factors.

The 2018 purchases were confirmed as America’s greatest African defense sale, with a total value of approximately $500 million.

It included 12 A-29 Super Tucanos, supplementary weaponry, replacement parts, contract logistics assistance, and pilot and maintainer training for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The Kainji Air Base is also getting a $36 million infrastructure upgrade from the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Magazines and aircraft sunshades, as well as a flight annex wing building, ammunition depot, small arms storage, perimeter fencing, airfield cargo pad, lights, apron, and hangar, are among the facilities available.
