Nigeria Cannot Disintegrate Over Ethnic, Religious Sentiments – Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has stated that Nigeria will not disintegrate due to ethnic or religious sensitivities.

Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was in Bauchi State to represent President Muhammadu Buhari at the wedding of former Ms. Fatima Adamu (the daughter of Mallam Adamu Adamu, the Education Minister).

At a brief stop over at the Palace of the Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Farouk, Osinbajo said, “this is one occasion where you will find that our country is truly a united country and that nothing can separate this country, not ethnicity or religion or class. There is nothing that can separate this country. In fact, this is excellent evidence of the fact that this country is united.”

The Vice President also took advantage of the wedding ceremony to congratulate the Education Minister on his commitment to a united Nigeria and his efforts to create bridges across political and religious divides.

He went on to say that luminaries who attended the ceremony did so despite the odds because of their personal relationship with the minister.

Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Governors Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, Babagana Zulum of Borno, Mr Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa, Simon Lalong of Plateau, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, and the event’s host, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, were among the dignitaries in attendance. Chief Bisi Akande, the APC’s founding Chairman, and Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s National Leader, were also present.

Mr Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation; Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture; and Dr Ali Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, were also present.

Despite the fact that Buhari was not in attendance at the wedding, Adamu, an accountant and journalist, is currently serving his second term as Minister of Education.

Since the days of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, he is thought to be a major ally of the President.
