I will Reject Offer To Return As APC Chairman — Oshiomhole Reveals

The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole has revealed that he will reject offer to return as the chairman of the party.

Making this known in a statement on Monday Oshomhole who revealed that he had no grudge against the party members that plotted his removal further said that he was proud of what the National Working Committee of the  party was able to achieve under his leadership.

“I instructed my lawyers to withdraw the suits challenging my purported suspension from office by the proxies  of those bent on removing me as chairman,” the statement read.

“It is, therefore, the height of mischief  to insinuate, as it is being done in some quarters, that I would publicly accept the decision and later surreptitiously seek to contest it in court.

“That chapter of my political life is closed. Even if another NEC decision or a court order reverses the dissolution, with utmost humility I will decline to return as APC chairman.

“I am proud of the accomplishments of the NWC under my leadership and I am grateful to the principled 18 members who worked as a  team committed to the cause of the party. Above all, I bear no grudges against any one for the manner of my removal,” the statement by Oshiomhole read.

It will be recalled that the Oshiomhole-led working committe of the APC was dissolved in June after he disqualified the governor of Edo state Godwin Obaseki from contesting at the party’s primary election.

Before his NWC was dissolved A federal high court in Abuja earlier suspended Oshiomhole on behalf og the Edo state chapter of APC.

Following the removal of Oshiomhole as the party’s chairman, there was a huge controversy as regards who was going to replace him as the party’s chairman with factions of the party nominating different individuals to replace the former Edo state governor as the chairman of the party.

However, the Governor of Yobe state Mai Mala Buni was selected to chair the party’s caretaker and reconciliation committee.

While some believed that the removal of Oshiomhole as the party’s chairman was linked with decision to disqualify Obaseki from contesting at the party’s primaries, others linked his removal to his suspension by the state chapter of the APC.

It will also be recalled that APC some months back revealed that it sacked Oshiomhole to end the internal crisis in the party.
