N2.1bn arms deal: Appeal Court frees Dokpesi

The chairman of Daar Communications, Raymond Dokpesi, was on Thursday acquitted of corruption allegations by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

Mr Dokpesi were on seven counts arraigned on procurement fraud and breach of public trust.

He was alleged to have received a total of N2.1 billion from the Office of a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki for services not rendered between October 2014 and March 2015.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had called 13 witnesses in the course of trial.

Mr Dokpesi approached the court of Appeal in November 2018 but had his case struck out by Justice John Tsoho but again he reapproached the court to upturn the decision of the lower court.

Delivering judgement on Thursday, Justice Elfrieda Williams-Dawodu of the Appellate Court, held that the EFCC failed to establish a prima facie case against the appellants.
