Military Bombs Boko Haram, ISWAP Commanders During Meeting

During a conference around the Lake Chad axis, the Nigerian military bombed Boko Haram and Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) commanders and leaders.

Boko Haram and ISWAP camps were hit by Nigerian Air Force jets in Sabon Tumbu, Jibularam, and Kwalaram, according to news reports.

The coordinated airstrikes, according to an official, destroyed the strongholds of the factions’ commanders and their guards.

NAF jets also attacked spiritual bases and training camps on the outskirts of Lake Chad, according to the source.

“Their leaders, including Ali Chakkar and other top ISWAP commanders, were holding a meeting when the attacks were launched.

“The precision-guided airstrikes coordinated by the Air Task Force Command resulted in the killing of very large numbers of ISWAP and Boko Haram terrorists,” the source said.

NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet confirmed the bombing, saying the military launched devastating intelligence-led aerial attacks targeting the terrorists, killing several of them.

“We don’t differentiate between Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists as we successfully launched the devastating intelligence-led aerial attacks targeting the terrorists in those locations”, he said.
