Lauretta Onochie Is Not Our Member — APC
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State has confirmed clearly that presidential media aide Lauretta Onochie is not a party member.
The party cautioned the Senate to ignore protests and petitions against Onochie’s nomination in a statement signed by Cyprian Ashibuogu, Clement Ozegbe, Nkem Osu, and Onyeisi Nwokolobia on Sunday.
“She is a technocrat and has been part of us and she is not a card-carrying member of our party.”
In Delta state, Onochie was nominated to serve as a commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC. Her nomination has been received with tremendous criticism because she is seen as political and a strong supporter of the APC.
She did, however, reveal at her Senate confirmation hearing that she had left the party in 2019.
A petition from a senatorial district in Delta State, which has violently opposed her nomination because she is “Anioma daughter,” was also labeled “false” by the APC.
