Kano Battle Heats Up As Gov Yusuf’s Govt Goes After Ganduje

The Kano State Government has filed an eight-count charge against the immediate past Governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, alleging he collected $200,000 from a contractor, among other offenses.

Efforts by Daily Trust to contact the state’s Attorney-General, Haruna Dederi, last night were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls or messages.

Similarly, there was no response from individuals close to Ganduje, who presently serves as the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a charge sheet obtained by The Cable and filed before the Kano High Court, the NNPP-led state government stated that the alleged offense violated the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Commission Commission Law 2008.

The defendants named in the case include Ganduje, Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lesaga General Enterprises.

Furthermore, the state government accused Ganduje of receiving a $210,000 kickback from individuals and entities involved in or seeking Kano State Government contracts or projects, particularly the remodelling of the Kantin Kwari textile market.

Ganduje and his associates have consistently refuted the allegations, asserting that the video evidence was manipulated to tarnish the former Governor’s reputation.
