Just In: Rivers Lawmaker Makes U-Turn Returns to PDP After 72 Hours

Hon. Linda Somari Stewart A member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Linda Somari Stewart, the lawmaker representing Okrika in the State Assembly has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC), and returned to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), 72 hours after she dumped the party.

Hon. Stewart was among the 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who announced their defections from PDP to APC on Monday. The lawmakers cited the crises rocking the party at both national and state levels for their decision.

Although Hon. Stewart did not give a reason for his return, she said she had dumped the APC and decided to return to the party where she was elected.

However, a source claimed that Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara has been restive, working round the clock, and dealing with some of the aggrieved lawmakers who have taken sides with Fubara’s erstwhile political leader, Nyesom Wike.

Our source reveals that Hon. Stewart’s return to the PDP is part of the effort of the governor of the state, Fubara, to win more lawmakers to his side as he continues to battle his predecessor and benefactor, Nyesom Wike.

“Hon. Stewart’s defection back to PDP means Governor Fubara is in charge. More will come soon,” our source stated.

Recall that out of the 32 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, only five, with one of them currently late, making them four members are presently loyal to Governor Fubara while former Governor Wike has the backing of the other 27 members who have been currently reduced to 26 following Hon. Stewart’s defection.
