JUST IN: Angry Youths Storm Abuja, Demand Resignation Of Top Tinubu’s Minister

Protesters made a forceful entry into the premises of the National Assembly in Abuja on Wednesday.

They expressed vehement dissatisfaction over the tragic killing of numerous civilians by a military drone on Sunday.

The demonstrators, who gathered at the entrance gate of the National Assembly for an extensive two-hour protest, demanded justice for the victims of the bombing. They specifically called upon President Bola Tinubu’s Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, to fulfill his responsibilities adequately or resign from his position.

The genesis of the protest stems from the reported incident in Tudun Biri, Rigasa District of Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State, where a Nigerian Army drone bombed a gathering of villagers celebrating Maulud on Sunday night. The tragic event resulted in the death of over 90 individuals, with more than 60 sustaining injuries. The military has acknowledged its involvement in the bombing but has yet to provide comprehensive details.

Leader of the protesting groups, Nasir Ishaku, representing the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) North West Zone and Arewa Youth Movement, addressed the media, emphasizing the urgency of justice for the victims. Ishaku condemned the escalating loss of innocent lives, particularly in the Northern region, and called for the National Assembly’s intervention in probing the Kaduna incident, urging decisive actions to salvage the nation.

In his statement, Ishaku asserted, “For those who have eyes to see, let them see well, and those who have ears to hear, let them listen attentively. Nigeria is not well because Nigerians are being killed day by day.” He pointed out the deteriorating security situation under the tenure of Minister Abubakar Badaru and expressed the organizations’ moral obligation to voice their grievances. Ishaku concluded by stating that the minister should either address his responsibilities promptly or resign due to perceived incompetence.
