Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a courageous leader who resisted external pressures to influence the Supreme Court’s judgment on the governorship elections.
Yusuf expressed satisfaction with Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shattima for their principled stance despite intense pressures. Referring to alleged attempts by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to use the Presidency for influence, Yusuf highlighted Tinubu and Shettima’s refusal as a testament to Nigeria being in capable hands.
Yusuf extended an olive branch to his political rival, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the APC gubernatorial candidate who lost in the Supreme Court, emphasizing the need to unite for Kano’s development.
He stated, “As a true democrat and progressive, I called on my opponents and their supporters to join hands with me in the crusade of developing our dear state Kano for the betterment of its citizens.”
Yusuf commended the people of Kano for their support, prayers, and the Supreme Court Judges for upholding the judiciary’s integrity. He thanked Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso for guidance and support during the challenging period.
