IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu Names Two Northerners Against Restructuring

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has cited Senate President Ahmed Lawan and Attorney-General Abubakar Malami as two northerners who oppose Nigeria’s restructuring.

Last week, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, warned the governors of the Southern zone against imposing a ban on open grazing.

The Minister called the Southern Governors’ position “very risky.”

The Governors, according to the Attorney General, have no jurisdiction to restrict any Nigerian’s liberty or freedom of movement, and their pronouncement is equivalent to northern governors declaring a ban on spare parts trading in the north.

Lawan also slammed the governors, saying that as elected leaders, they should not have taken such a stance in response to the call for restructuring and a ban on open grazing.

Malami and Lawan spoke separately during an emergency meeting of Governors from the Southern Region in Asaba, Delta State, to give solutions to the country’s growing security problems.

Meanwhile, senior members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South West approved the open grazing ban on Sunday.

During a meeting in Lagos State on Sunday, Bola Tinubu, Bisi Akande, Olusegun Osoba, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, were among those who urged for the restructuring of the country and the establishment of state police.

Kanu further claimed that the Minister of Justice, Malami, and Nigeria’s Senate President, Lawan, are fighting Nigeria’s restructuring and pushing the South to secede.

According to him, “The South have been demanding RESTRUCTURING. Now, Southern Govs & Southern caucus in NASS have joined in. That’s half of Nigeria. But 2 men – the Senate President and AGF Malami are saying the North won’t entertain it.

“Dear South: Just walk away from Nigeria. Simple!”

Kanu further lamented that “They [the North] have no sea but they are in charge of all sea ports in the South.

“They have no single drop of oil but own all oil wells in the South and are in charge of NNPC. They score lowest in every exam yet they are Chief Justices, AGF, Supreme Court Judges and Army Generals.”
