The project tagged, “Tekisite” was put to being as a way of tackling unemployment and at the same time blending youths with IT skills to flourish in the digital economic space. With training camps in Ayetoro, Joga Orile and Ibooro communities, the onsite training of the teens majorly secondary school students spanned for the first two weeks of July.

Prior to the project, Reaching Minds Foundation discovered that there was a mismatch between the skills offered by many training programmes and what’s actually demanded by employing organizations.

Lead Director of the organization, Abass Oyeyemi said this was what informed the decision of the NGO in organizing Tekisite which aims at training young ones in rural areas with digital skills like coding and designing.

I’m quite aware of the obstacles faced, the bad roads that leads to this community. Being able to train the students Information and Technology skills in their local languages and making them graphic designers and coders is a huge feat”.

Reaching Minds Foundation Head of Communications, Raji Zainab while addressing newsmen said, “Tekisite Bootcamp 101 as huge as it is, is just one of the first stages of our massive digital skills empowerment and it’s not going to stop there. We are poised to ensure that the next categories of Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates come from the rural areas in Nigeria. Special appreciation goes to Tekinest Company for due support and partnership”.
