In Osun, Oyetola must watch it!

By Ismail Omipidan

After Governor Gboyega Oyetola was sworn in as governor, the feelers I got was that of a serious man ready to work. And he has so far not disappointed until this latest appointments.

He made three appointments yesterday. They are: Wole Oyebanji, as SSG, Dr Charles Akinola as CoS and Abdullai Binuyo as DCoS.

Of the three appointees however, only one in my view is deserving of the appointment if antecedents and previous positions held is anything to go by.

One of them was the focal man under the immediate past administration for the various Agriculture intervention programmes in the state. What are the gains after eight years? It is near disaster. So, why should such a man be saddled with any new responsibility in this new administration? Perhaps, the governor knows what we the ordinary citizens of the state do not know.

Again, why would the governor hire a man that was deliberately sidelined by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for failure to deliver? He was appointed in Aregbesola’s first tenure. But was offloaded in the second tenure.

Aregbesola did his best in Osun. We appreciate him for the infrastructure. But his party had to struggle to win Osun because of some of his missteps and activities of some of his appointees. Our new governor must not make similar mistake. It is not too late to review the appointments. If they must be in government because of their contributions to the campaign, keep them in less strategic positions. Also, in making further appointments, conscious effort must made to avoid the mistakes of the past.

We are watching sir!
