Drama As Kidnapped Pregnant Woman Gives Birth In Kidnappers’ Den
A pregnant woman, Chinwendu Igwe, who was abducted while en route to the hospital for delivery, reportedly gave birth to a baby boy at the kidnappers’ hideout in Egede, Udi local government area of Enugu State.
The incident occurred last Monday, with Igwe delivering her child in the forest where she was held captive along with her two young children aged between four and two years.
Confirming the ordeal, the woman’s husband, Mr. Ekene Igwe, disclosed to reporters that he paid a ransom of N1.6 million to secure the release of his wife and newborn from the forest where the kidnappers demanded the payment.
“I paid a ransom of N1.6 million before I could get my wife and newborn baby,” he stated. Expressing gratitude to God for the safe return of his wife. Igwe, a native of Attakwu Akegbe Ugwu Awkunanaw, shared his relief at her safe return.
Meanwhile, the landlord of the Igwe family, Chief Emma Ugwu Enyiduru, praised divine intervention for the rescue and highlighted the supportive role of Governor Mbah, who is overseeing the welfare of the mother and child at Parklane Hospital in Enugu.
“We thank God for sparing the life of my tenant’s wife. I am especially grateful to God that Governor Mbah has intervened and is taking care of the woman and her kid at the Parklane Hospital,” he expressed.
While acknowledging the rare occurrence of such a traumatic event happening to someone close to him, Ugwu, who also serves as the chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Enugu South, remained thankful for divine protection.
