Gunmen Kill Fuel Marketer In Ondo, Cart Away N2m

In Ondo State, gunmen suspected of being armed robbers shot and killed a petroleum marketer.

Bode Dangunro, the deceased, was believed to have been assassinated in Igbokoda, the state’s Ilaje Local Government Area headquarters.

Dagunro was a prominent gasoline trader at Olotu, a riverine village in the Ugbonla axis of the local government, before his horrible murder.

According to accounts, his assassins carted away N2 million in addition to murdering him in cold blood at his home.

Mr Malo Olorunwa Francis, a staff member of the Niger Delta Development Company, NDDC, in Okitipupa, who spoke about the event, said the thieves broke into the victim’s home around 9 p.m.

After being shot in the stomach, Francis said he rushed him to a private hospital in Igbokoda, where he died.

Tee-Leo Ikoro, the state police command’s Public Relations Officer, could not be reached for comment since his phone was unanswered.

However, according to a police source who confirmed the occurrence, a preliminary investigation is underway to locate the fleeing culprits.

It went on to say that the deceased’s remains had already been put in a morgue in Igbokoda.

Meanwhile, the incident has left the town in mourning, with residents describing the murder as a “huge tragedy.”
