Insecurity ‘So High’ Under Buhari Regime — SGF Mustapha

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has stated in front of Nigeria’s religious leaders that insecurity is rising under President Muhammadu Buhari’s rule.

“The level of insecurity in Nigeria today is so high that religious and traditional rulers must assist the government to usher in peace,” explained Mr Mustapha. “Religious leaders should publicly reject the idea of those who claim to be killing in the name of religion by giving a counter-narrative.”

Mr Mustapha made the statement while opening the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council’s (NIREC) fourth quarterly meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

He urged Nigerians to foster peace, particularly religious and traditional rulers, and emphasized the importance of the council’s support for Mr Buhari’s peace and security measures.

He asked religious leaders to continue preaching peace and encouraging young involvement in order to maintain peace and unity in the country.

Cornelius Omonokhua, executive secretary of the NIREC, emphasized the importance of a friendly connection and coordination between civilians and security agencies.

In his goodwill message, Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar, said, “I want to urge us all to discuss issues that promote goodwill and peace among us, not issues that divide us. God did not make mistakes when he gave us different religions. One of our major problems is injustice, which is perceived in different ways.”
