Ganduje Dropped From Ministerial List, Reportedly Penned Down For APC Chairmanship Position

Barring last-minute changes for Kano state Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is set to emerge as the Acting National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

An impeccable source in the seat of power who wants to remain anonymous told this Newspaper that President Bola Tinubu is searching for a competent, experienced hand that will reorganise the party, due to the crisis in the party in many states and even at the national level.

The source further hinted that the President may have settled down for Ganduje because he believes the former Governor has the qualities he is looking for to lead the party.

The source also revealed that to achieve the objective of persuading Mr. Ganduje who was already pencilled down for a ministerial appointment, the President sent emissaries to convince him.

The trio of the chairman of Progressive Governors Forum, Imo state Governor Uzodinma, Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, Kwara state Governor Abdulraham Abdulrasaq and Ogun state Governor Dapo Abiodun were sent to Ganduje.

The former Governor was said to have agreed to work in the best interest of the party and the country.

The source added that the three Governors and Mr. Ganduje are currently in a meeting with the President at Aso Villa to finalise the discussion.

“The President had listed Ganduje as one of the nominees for a ministerial appointment but because of his trust and confidence in the former governor, President Tinubu has to change his mind although, the President also asked him (Ganduje) to nominate another person from Kano for the ministerial job.

“I can confirm to you that three serving governors of APC, including Imo and Kwara governors led the former governor Ganduje to a meeting with the President on Wednesday afternoon. The purpose of that meeting is for President Tinubu to brief Ganduje directly about the new assignment.”
