Fire guts 62-year-old grandma’s house in Cross River

A cottage belonging to Mrs Lucy Abang, a subsistence farmer in the Bunyia Irruan community of Boki LGA in Cross River State, was completely destroyed by fire

The incident occurred two days ago in the middle of the night.

Despite the fact that she, her sons, and their wives were all sleeping, no one was killed in the fire.

However, the fire destroyed all of their belongings in the house

“We don’t know what caused the fire,” the grandmother explained. We all decided to sleep outside due to the heat. One of my grandchildren was the one who alerted everyone to the fact that there was a fire within the house.”

She has received some material and financial assistance from kind members of the public, notably farmers’ associations.

Bayinyi Boki Worldwide, a group of local women, also donated cash donations to the family.

Mrs. Florence Odok, the Association’s President, stated that as mothers, they could not turn a blind eye to the plight of one of their members.

Mrs Beatrice Otu, who spoke on behalf of the President, emphasized the importance of socializing and networking with other women around the world.
