Fear Grips Kaduna Community, Residents Run For Their Lives After Soldiers Withdraw

Residents of Maganda Village in Magajin Gari Ward III, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have fled their homes following the sudden withdrawal of security personnel stationed in the area.

The villagers express fear of potential attacks by bandits who have been terrorizing the community for years. There are reports that the bandits go unchallenged, going home to home to extort residents of their belongings while harming, abducting or killing some of their victims.

Ismail A. Ahmed, a resident, and former councillor, stated, “I left with my family because we are not safe. Most people left their crops behind and left with minimal belongings to save their lives because the bandits entered house after house, confiscating phones and money from people.”

Ishaq Usman Kasai, Chairman of Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU), confirmed the incident and appealed to the government, particularly the military authorities, to promptly redeploy personnel to protect the innocent villagers.
