Ex-Kaduna Gov, El-Rufai Lands Top Post After Failing To Become Tinubu’s Minister

The former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has landed a top post after failing to become a Minister under President Bola Tinubu’s government.

He announced his upcoming role as the Chairman of the Board for Afri-Venture Capital Company Ltd, following the controversial events surrounding his ministerial appointment.

El-Rufai, whose name was submitted to the National Assembly for ministerial screening by President Bola Tinubu, faced opposition from lawmakers on security grounds. Despite the setback, the former Governor revealed on December 4th that he is poised to assume the position of part-time Chairman for Afri-Venture Capital Company Ltd.

El-Rufai shared the news on the X platform, stating, “MONDAY ANNOUNCEMENT: I can confirm that our VC-PE firm, Afri-Venture Capital Company Ltd will by the Grace of God, begin operations initially in Abuja in January 2024 with Jimi Lawal, Hafiz Bayero, Eyo Ekpo, and Kabir Yabo as founding directors and initial shareholders. I am privileged to be the part-time Chairman of the Board.”

He went on to outline the company’s vision, expressing a commitment to financing, nurturing, and mentoring young innovators and entrepreneurs in Nigeria and eventually across Africa. El-Rufai urged support and prayers for the success of the venture and the aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs, envisioning them as the future equivalent of the Dangote Group.
