El-Rufai’s Wife, Hadiza Emerges Northern Governors Wives’ Chairperson
Hadiza El-Rufai, the wife of Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has been elected Chairperson of the Northern Governors Wives’ Forum (NGWF).
According to NAN, the new executive members were elected on Monday in Abuja.
Hadiza succeeds Amina Bello, wife of Niger Governor Abubakar Bello, who was unanimously chosen for a two-year term.
Vice-Chairperson Olufolake Abdulrazaq (Kwara) was elected, while Secretary Anna Ishaku (Taraba) was elected.
The Welfare Officer is Mariya Tambuwal (Sokoto), the Treasurer is Asma’u Yahaya (Gombe), and the Public Relations Officer is Regina Lalong (Plateau).
Hadiza advocated that women be given equal opportunity to participate to the development of their country.
The forum leader called for pressure on federal and state legislature to allocate “a certain percentage of seats for women”.
“This is because we cannot compete equally with the men. We all know this has a lot to do with financial strength and women are not strong financially”, she said.
