EFCC Under Fire For Arresting Gov Obiano Instead Of Bola Tinubu

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, has come under fire for allegedly failing to apprehend former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Reno Omokri, a former presidential adviser, questioned why Tinubu has been allowed to roam freely despite suspected corruption charges against him, whereas Willie Obiano, who recently completed his eight-year term as governor of Anambra State on Thursday, was detained right away.

Obiano was detained at the Lagos International Airport on Thursday, a few hours after he officially handed over to Prof. Charles Soludo and was about to leave the country, according to DAILY POST.

Wilson Uwajaren, the EFCC’s Public Relations Officer, told BBC Pidgin that Obiano had been on the Commission’s watchlist previous to the changeover on Thursday.

And Omokri is shocked that the EFCC hasn’t pursued Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State for eight years.

“Compared to Bola Tinubu, Obiano is a saint. Compared to Oluremi Tinubu, Ebele is a choir mistress,” the former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan tweeted.

“Why has EFCC left Bola Tinubu, with his humongous corruption, and gone after Obiano?

“Nigerians let us not allow ourselves be distracted by this drama! We need equity!”
